Blackwing pencils were favoured by award-winning creators throughout the 20th century.

Despite a cult following, they were discontinued in the 1990s. Devotees began paying as much as $40 on eBay for a single pencil.

In the early 2000s, with access to the best wood, graphite and artisan makers in the world a premium pencil line called Palomino was introduced. The buzz surrounding the Palomino led Blackwing fans to ask for the Blackwing pencils to brought back for a new generation. In 2010, that happened.

The Blaackwing Palomino is the second entry in the Blackwing Eras series. They are inspired by the Palominos that paved the way for the Blackwing revival.
